About Me

Vision: Amber imagines a world where every person is equipped to live a trauma informed, Robust (Strong + Healthy), and Resilient (flexible + Persistent) life.

Mission: Amber provides spiritually fluid, socially conscious health and wellness services, including soul coaching, yoga, meditation, reflection, and fearless dialogue.

Amber Mattingly is passionate about teaching practices that invite people to see and hear themselves ,each other, and the Divine.  This passion comes from her Christian faith tradition that finds a sense of grounding in the Genesis story of Hagar who names God, the God who sees. This powerful story reminds Amber that no one is outside the boundary of God’s love.

Amber is a graduate of Baylor University in 1999 and received a Master of Divinity degree from George W. Truett Theological Seminary in 2002. Recently, Amber completed her Doctor of Ministry degree at Claremont School of Theology. Her project, From the Pew to the Mat: Seeing and Hearing the Outsider, focused on creating sacred space for people from any or no religious tradition to share their stories of blessing and brokenness. Amber pastored two congregations in the Houston area before focusing on Soul Coaching. Amber believes that the coaching relationship holds sacred space for personal growth and awareness of opportunities to act on that growth. Amber has two beautifully unique children and is married to her best friend, Rev. Dr. Chad Mattingly.

Growing up I thought that sacred space was only offered at church. I wanted to be a part of offering people space and so I devoted my time, education, and talents to the church. Then, the birth of my son expanded my view of sacred space when I began to take yoga classes after my son was newly diagnosed with autism. I was overwhelmed, frightened for his future, worried about my marriage, and frustrated at life. At the height of this experience, I stopped sleeping. I stopped sleeping for a whole year. So, I was not the youthful mom coming to yoga to learn handstands and complicated poses. Nope. I was the young mom barely able to make it through the day who ended up spending most of the time crying on my mat. For me, yoga is a tool that reconnected me with my true self, strengthened connection with something greater than myself, and guided me to see that I could live a life with Clarity, Compassion, and radical amazement!

Now, I am ready to offer you the same opportunity I gave myself.

While developing my curriculum with the grant from the National Benevolent Association, I noticed two groups that are underserved in opportunities for safe, wholistic wellness. I created programs to serve individuals who identify as Spiritually Fluid and Middle School age children. This unique program follows a “spiral of becoming” offering tools to enhance the adolescent and adult’s innate capacity to live with clarity, compassion & radical amazement.

Amber believes in the power of community to support and encourage the soulful journey of healing and transformation. Research shows that a key ingredient in creating and sustaining healthy habits is the support of a Community.

Amber’s Values:

Compassion– Compassion is at the heart of my mission. We have experienced deep suffering and navigated the dark, long, winding and sometimes lonely road that lead to healing and transformation. Now, we see that our personal suffering connects us to the suffering of humanity all around us. Compassion calls us to relieve the suffering and Sacred Flow will equip you to live a Robust (Strong + Healthy) and Resilient (Flexible + Persistent) life.

Flexibility-not only in body but in our mind!  I approach my work as a student continually learning from clients and current research.

Beauty-My aim is to provide you with something of meaning and something aesthetically appealing. I want your experience to be heartful and to give you the opportunity to feel beautiful in your own skin.

Inclusivity-I want everyone to feel welcome and able to join our practice. My teaching and coaching is influence by my doctorate in Compassion based leadership, trauma informed and adaptive yoga certifications, and 25 years of leading in religious and nonreligious settings.
