The Fourth Agreement applies to the other agreements. This agreement is very hard to figure out for me since I always feel pressure to do my best, offer my best and my inner critic has a loud voice!. I continue to read this agreement to try and make a connection, but for me to feel freedom, I believe that all of the agreements come down to focusing my mind on the present moment as opposed to my mind living somewhere off in the future or focusing on something that happened in the past. If I can connect to this present moment, then I understand that my words have the power of life or death. I am able to separate who I am from what others say acknowledging I am not the main character in their story. By living in the present moment, my brain would also be able to formulate good questions so that I can fully understand and not make assumptions.
Here is what I have to somehow comprehend:
“Your best is going to change moment by moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstances, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.”
We’ll see, Don Miguel Ruiz. We’ll see…..
So as we begin this week together, how will you do your best to offer the fullest expression of who you are to the world?
