Day 2: Art Expression

10 Experiences

Becoming the Beloved means letting the truth of our Belovedness become enfleshed in everything we think, say, or do.  Nouwen, Life of the Beloved

(if you are not ready to move on from Day 1, please listen to your inner guide and stay right where you are.  you are where you are supposed to be.  all 10 experiences will be in the January 2018 folder on my blog.  you can access them anytime.)

Let’s begin 2018 with some kind of visual art expression that fully expresses the truth of your belovedness.  Maybe you experienced something special during your time of meditation and stillness (see the post for January 2, 2018).  Maybe the word or phrase you repeated over and over began to take root.  Maybe in your time of quiet, a new idea began to develop.  Let’s take what you experienced and use that to make something you can see everyday.  Here are a few ideas of how to get started….

1-Write your word on a page in your journal or a piece of printer paper.  Now, make that word explode on the paper using colorful pens!  Create a mandala all around the word.  Add your own doodles and drawings, squiggles and markings.

2-Take a word or phrase and using scratch art pad like this one               https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074FT8BFV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

scratch your phrase through the black to reveal your truth in color!  Here are some pictures of those created during our prayer vigil.

3-Create a dream board that holds all of your dreams for 2018.  I created this one last year (picture below).  You will need poster board, magazines, and time.  This is a fun experience to do with friends.  You could start by putting your word/phrase in the center and then just choose any picture or saying that resonates with you.

Put this original work of art in your car, on the mirror in your bathroom, in your kitchen, or at your office desk.  As the days move forward, see how these words & images become enfleshed in everything you think, say and do!
